If you’ve ever had to work on or replace an automotive transmission, you know how important it is to have a reliable and high quality transmission jack in your arsenal of tools. For a sturdy and high capacity jack, the Torin TR4076 makes a great addition to any garage.
With a 1,000-pound weight capacity, this jack can handle any transmission you throw at it. Designed for both the weekend tinkerer and professional mechanic alike, the Torin transmission jack is easy to operate, offers plenty of adjustability to get under low clearance vehicles, and is made by one of the best automotive lift companies on the market.
For even the toughest transmission maintenance jobs, this jack has a multitude of fantastic features that will save you time and mental anguish. For the value, features, and quality, we deem the Torin transmission jack one of the best transmission jacks we’ve reviewed to date.
This jack is made out of high grade steel with a reinforced base for improved safety. Because it is fully tested to ANSI standards while still at the Torin factory, you can be sure that you’re getting a 100% safe and reliable product straight out of the box when you purchase this jack.
On this jack, the hydraulic system works seamlessly and buttery-smooth. It is incredibly easy to lift and lower a heavy transmission with the Torin and we feel that this is one of the better tools on the market in this category. Hydraulic systems on transmission jacks are always a bit of a sticking point when it comes to quality since they are one of the more important facets of any jack, so it is particularly important that a jack company gets this aspect right. We are pleased to report that Torin has.
In our opinion, you simply cannot wear this jack out. Even with daily industrial use the Torin TR4076 is built to last a lifetime. Put this bad boy through the ringer and see for yourself is what we say.
This jack is chocked full of great features that we like. First of all, the lifting handle has the ability to rotate a full 360 degrees for optimum load positioning. This makes it very easy to maneuver the lift underneath your transmission from any angle. Another feature that stands out is the transmission saddle that can be easily adjusted to ensure you get that heavy transmission properly supported.
The Torin has a built-in safety overload protection system that disallows putting overstressing your hydraulic system. We like this feature because most transmissions don’t have a sticker on them that tells you how much they weigh, so if you have to guesstimate and it turns out to weigh more than the 1,000-pound capacity, you won’t irreparably damage the jack. That said, very few car transmissions weigh anywhere near that amount, so you are probably good in any case.
Another thing worth mentioning is that with a minimum clearance of 8.66-inches, this jack arguably has a better lifting range than most others.
Last but not least, we have to mention the steel swivel bearing casters. These provide a good amount of mobility while under load so that you can effortlessly wheel a heavy transmission in and out of your vehicle with ease. If you’ve ever seen what 1,000 pounds can do to flimsy aluminum casters you’ll be glad to have these babies on your side. They are nicely built and feel very stout.
In our opinion, the Torin TR4076 is a steal for the money you will spend to get one of your own. Similar jacks with lesser quality and flimsier designs oft trade for twice the price. As they often do, Amazon’s attractive pricing seems to give them the edge when it comes to finding the best deal.
Considering the quality of construction and amount of features on this model, you would be hard-pressed to find another automotive jack that could compare with the Torin.
We feel that the Torin Roll Under Transmission Jack is a fantastic purchase that any serious mechanic should be happy to own and use in their garage. We highly recommend it.
